Cerner announced it has completed its acquisition of Siemens Health Services, finalizing a $1.3 billion deal made public last August.
Analysts peg the expected 2015 revenue of the company to reach $4.8 billion to $5 billion, according to Cerner. Annual research and development investments will total more than $650 million.
With the addition, Kansas City, Mo.-based Cerner gains about 5,000 additional employees, pushing the worldwide associate total for the company to more than 21,000. To this point, 97 percent of affected Siemens Health Services employees have accepted new placement at Cerner, though there are no current plans to relocate anyone, according to a Kansas City Star report.
Cerner said it will support Siemens’ Soarian IT platform for at least 10 years. Cerner and Siemens Health Services’ former parent company, Siemens AG, have also entered into a strategic alliance related to healthcare information technology.
