Agfa launches Impax Data Center 3.0
Agfa HealthCare has launched the Impax Data Center (IDC) 3.0, a PACS and storage vendor neutral archive.

IDC 3.0 includes support for VMware virtualization to deploy the Impax Data Center on any VMware compliant platform. With its conformance to medical standards such as DICOM, HL7 and the Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise technical framework, IDC 3.0 makes it possible for hospitals to distribute clinical data from different departments through an EMR or EHR.

IDC 3.0 provides a single point of storage for patient imaging data, which enables hospitals and hospital groups to consolidate imaging data from radiology PACS, cardiology PACS and multi-disciplinary imaging solutions into a single, centralized, DICOM repository. Agfa's Xero viewer software technology provides clinical viewing of images and reports across the enterprise and beyond via browsers without additional client download.

The archive offers access to a patient's medical record, including diagnostic imaging, regardless of the facility in which the patient was treated, said the company.

IDC 3.0 is pending release in U.S. and Canada.
