New clinical informatics subspecialty is a go
The American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) has approved the American Board of Preventive Medicine's application for subspecialty certification in clinical informatics.

Clinical informatics is co-sponsored by the American Board of Pathology and certification in this new subspecialty will be available to diplomates of all ABMS member boards. The ABPM and ABPath have started the process of creating a certification exam in the subspecialty of clinical informatics, with the first offering expected in the fall of 2013.

The 2012 online application for initial certification is available on the ABPM's website and the deadline to submit online applications is June 1.
