NuVasive to purchase Impulse Monitoring for $80M
NuVasive, a San Deigo-based manufacturer of surgical products for the spine, is planning to purchase Impulse Monitoring, an intraoperative monitoring provider, for $80 million.

Intraoperative monitoring, which focuses on the detection of neurological compromise during surgery, requires the presence of neurophysiologists in the operating room. According to the statement, neuromonitoring of the spine makes up 80 percent of Impulse Monitoring’s case volume.

Impulse Monitoring employs more than 150 neurophysiologists and NuVasive employs more than 300 spine specialists. Currently, more than half of spine procedures undergo intraoperative monitoring.
