Ohio ortho center taps Carestream for PACS & DR

Crystal Clinic Orthopaedic Center in Akron, Ohio, has purchased a Carestream Vue PACS and 14 Carestream and Quantum DR systems.

The clinic is seeking to streamline workflow and help its 34 orthopedic and two plastic surgeons enhance patient care with the new systems, according to Rochester, N.Y.-based Carestream. Crystal Clinic physicians perform more than 16,000 inpatient and outpatient surgeries and conduct more than 60,000 medical imaging exams annually. They have 12 clinics that receive more than 105,000 clinic visits per year.

Vue PACS features include surgical templating and 3D imaging, and Vue Connect interfaces with several different PACS to allow for the exchange of prior patient images. The system also will allow physicians to view images and reports captured at multiple locations.

Crystal Clinic x-ray infrastructure included a variety of old and new equipment, so centers with newer x-ray equipment retrofitted existing rooms with DRX-1 detectors. Older equipment at some medium-volume facilities was replaced, and DRX-Evolution systems were installed at some high-volume locations. The systems all feature a common user interface.
