Hitachi receives FDA approval for Supria True64 CT System

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) granted Hitachi 501(k) clearance to bring the Supria True64 Computed Tomography System to market. The Supria is a multi-slice computed tomography system designed to perform multi-slice CT scanning supported by 64-detector technology.

Used for the head, whole body and vascular x-ray tomography applications in patients of all ages, the images can be acquired in axial, helical or dynamic modes. The system boasts a 75-centimeter aperture and standard 500 lbs. weight capacity table that combines enhanced patient access with good image quality.

The Supria True64 has 64 discrete detector and electronics processing channels to provide rapid thin 64-slice imaging across its full 40mm detector coverage. It also emphasizes enhanced workflow capabilities, is XR-29 Smart Dose compliant and adds a new environmental efficiency feature “Eco-Mode” that reduces power consumption by up to 55 percent during idle periods.

The volume datasets acquired by the Supria can be post processed by the system to provide additional information. Post processing capabilities included in the Supria software include CT angiography (CTA), Multi-planar reconstruction (MPR) and volume rendering and the volume datasets acquired by the Supria can be transferred to external devices through a Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) standard interface.
