Missouri health system adds retinal imaging program for diabetic patients

CoxHealth, based in Springfield, Missouri, has partnered with Pensacola, Florida-based Intelligent Retinal Imaging Systems to deliver better eye care to patients suffering with diabetes.

New imaging machines at CoxHealth facilities allow physicians to perform thorough retinal exams. The machine takes a photo of an individual’s retina at the back of the eye to see if any damage due to diabetes has occurred so that problems can be addressed before they lead to blindness.
