MELVILLE, N.Y., October 11, 2016 – As of October 1, Virtual Imaging Inc., a Canon company, has been awarded a supplier agreement with Vizient Inc. (“Vizient”). Vizient is the largest member-owned healthcare company in the country, representing approximately $100 billion in annual healthcare purchasing*. Becoming an approved Vizient supplier grants Virtual Imaging the opportunity to sell its digital radiography equipment at negotiated pricing to Vizient’s members, including academic medical centers, pediatric facilities, community hospitals, integrated health delivery networks and non-acute healthcare providers that access the Vizient contract portfolio.

Virtual Imaging’s contract award with Vizient represents another significant milestone for the Canon company. In 1998, Canon Inc. launched the CXDI-11 digital radiography system, the world's first digital radiography system which featured a proprietary-developed X-ray image sensor. Canon Inc. then introduced the world’s first portable digital radiography detector, and has led the industry with many of the industry’s advanced features and technology “firsts” ever since continually expanding its lineup of related products in response to the ever-diversifying demand for X-ray diagnostic solutions.
