Digirad books Q3 revenue downturn
Digirad has posted a decline in revenue for its fiscal 2009 third quarter compared with the same quarter last year.

The Poway, Calif.-based gamma camera developer attributed the sales slump to tighter hospital budgets for capital equipment acquisitions.

The firm reported $16.9 million in total revenue for the third quarter, down from the $20.2 million posted in the third quarter in 2008. Its Digirad imaging solutions business posted revenues of $12.9 million during the same period, down $1.1 million from the $14 million posted in the the third quarter of 2008.

On a positive note, the company trimmed its net losses to $400,000 in the third quarter of 2009, compared with a net loss of $900,00 in the same period a year ago.
