GE scores first installs for new nuc cardiology camera
GE Healthcare has netted the first installations of its new cadmium zinc telluride (CZT)-based SPECT/CT nuclear cardiology camera featuring Alcyone technology, the Discovery NM/CT 570c. The system has been installed at Rambam Medical Center in Haifa, Israel and University Hospital in Zurich, Switzerland.

The Discovery NM/CT 570c features the capabilities of GE's LightSpeed VCT in conjunction with the Alcyone technology, which allows for volume SPECT/CT technology. According to the company, the system has the ability to perform a cardiac scan in less than five minutes, including myocardial perfusion imaging, attenuation correction, CT angiography and calcium scoring.

Alcyone technology combines CZT detectors, focused collimation, stationary data acquisition and 3D reconstruction, GE said.
