Researchers at Harvard Medical School are using a Gamma Medica-Ideas FLEX CT system to develop methods for early cancer detection. Their hope is to develop a way to detect miniscule lung tumors that cannot be seen with the naked eye which boosts chances for effective treatment.

Recent results from the research were published in an edition of Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences in October. The research is being carried out at the Center for Molecular Imaging Research (CMIR) at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School.
