ART has launched its eXplore Optix MX2 — a new version of its in vivo optical molecular imaging device for drug development. The device is an optical imaging system designed to characterize, quantify and visualize cellular and molecular events in living animals using fluorescent probes. Based on a proprietary time domain (TD) approach, eXplore Optix MX2 can be applied to further understand the mechanism of disease and evaluate the effects of therapy and disease progression.
Canon U.S.A. said that Canadian-based EFW Radiology Partners has installed new Canon CXDI-40EG general DR systems and Canon CXDI-50G Portable DR systems into EFW facilities in Calgary, Alberta. A total of 14 Canon DR systems, purchased from Horizon Medical Service, an authorized Canon dealer in Mississauga, were installed at EFW clinics. Eight of the Canon DR systems were installed in new general radiology rooms in the Beddington and Gulf EFW clinics. The six other Canon DR systems were placed in other EFW clinics, including single-plate solutions in Northhill and Southport, and dual-plate solutions in Airdrie and Foothills.
Missisauga, Ontario-based Draxis Health Inc. has been selected for inclusion in the NASDAQ Biotechnology Index. The company will continue to be listed under the ticker symbol "DRAX" on the NASDAQ Global Select Market.
Ergotron has released its third-generation StyleView Carts are now available. The cart was first introduced at the HIMSS 2007 conference this year in New Orleans.
The new carts—available in powered and non-powered versions for both LCD and Notebook use—now provide an additional five inches of independent monitor height adjustment that increases comfort and productivity for personalized viewing of medical data. Other new features include:
Misys Healthcare Systems said that its Misys Laboratory, its laboratory information system, will be implemented within the Providence Healthcare organization, a faith-based healthcare provider that operates seven facilities in Vancouver, Canada and provides care to more than 372,000 patients per year. The implementation of Misys Laboratory at St. Paul’s Hospital and Mount Saint Joseph Hospital is aimed to assist physicians in making better-informed care decisions through quick access to patient laboratory data. The deal totals $2 million.
The company also announced that it has completed the installation and deployment of a new enterprise practice management system for UroPartners LLC, a urology practice serving the greater Chicago area. The new Misys Vision system will serve as a unifying core to link the 11 geographically-separate group practices and 38 urologists that form UroPartners.
As a complement to the practice management system, UroPartners also added a variety of Payerpath and Misys Fast Services to optimize their revenue cycle and claims management capabilities.
National Governors Association appointed Commissioner Rhonda Medows, MD, FAAFP, to co-chair their Health Information Communication and Data Exchange Taskforce. The taskforce is charged with addressing the appropriate roles for publicly funded health programs in interoperable, electronic health information exchange (HIE).
NovaRad has released a new CD/DVD publisher aimed at small- to medium-sized hospitals and imaging centers. The device offers automated robotic CD/DVD duplication along with full-color direct-to-disc printing. Capabilities of the CD/DVD publisher include: the ability to burn and print up to 50 discs; full-color printing at up to 4800 dpi; automatic processes; and a way to place facility name, logo, and patient identifiers.
The CD/DVD publisher can work in conjunction with the company’s NovaPACS.
UltraRAD announced a new relationship with StructuRad, though which UltraRAD will begin offering StructuRad’s StudyManager and ReportNow as an integrated solution within its UltraPACS. The new offering – which will grant UltraPACS users configurable worklists, direct report creation, automated distribution, and monitoring of status – will be available beginning in June through UltraRAD and partners.
