Lawson Health Research Institute installs Canadas first synchronous MR/PET
The Lawson Health Research Institute in London, Ontario, will install Siemen’s Biograph mMR, a synchronous MR/PET system.
Scientists at the institute, which is part of St. Joseph’s Health Centre, will use the system to study treatable mechanisms of brain damage caused by stroke and Alzheimer's disease. The technology could soon aid clinicians in determining the most beneficial patient therapies and reduce the burden of stroke and dementia, according to Siemens.
Platform installation began Feb. 7, with full commissioning expected by summer. A symposium exploring several mMR research programs is planned for later this year.
