Netherlands reactor starts to repair primary cooling system
The Nuclear Research and Consultancy Group (NRG) of the Netherlands received approval on May 18 to start the repair of the eroded parts of the High Flux Reactor’s primary cooling system.

At four locations, the pipes are affected by galvanic corrosion. On basis of the inspections and measurement results NRG has decided to execute local repairs of these four locations and the eroded parts will be removed and new aluminum piping material will be welded in.

The repairs to the High Flux Reactor in Petten, Netherlands, are proceeding well and according to plan, the group said. There have been no safety incidents during the project and the radiation dose levels for internal and external employees have remained well below the planned limits, added NRG.
