Seno to debut Imagio at molecular imaging conference
Medical device manufacturer Seno Medical Instruments will be introducing its new opto-acoustic platform for small animal imaging at the joint Academy of Molecular Imaging/Society of Molecular Imaging conference in Providence, R. I., next week.

The Imagio research device utilizes the firm’s proprietary laser opto-acoustic technology to provide real-time color images which distinguish between benign and malignant growths for all solid tumors, according to Seno. Image contrast is related to both blood volume and oxygenation status, allowing for lesions to be diagnosed by clinicians, the company said.

The firm noted that the technology also has potential non-cancer applications in cardiovascular and inflammatory diseases and stroke research and detection.
