Paris-based Commissariat à l'Energie Atomique (CEA) and Siemens Medical Solutions have recently announced plans to expand their joint research activities in the area of innovative imaging and therapy. The organizations have signed a memorandum of understanding with resulting projects that are planned to commence in this fall.

One part of the collaboration will be to advance existing technologies, such as magnetic resonance, molecular imaging, and computed tomography. However, the companies also will invest considerable resources into developing even earlier diagnostic and therapy possibilities in molecular medicine.
   
As part of the agreement, the possibility exists that the companies will exchange technical personnel or combine them for certain projects.
