Hampton University in Hampton, Va., has been awarded a $565,000 equipment grant by the Department of Health and Human Services' Health Resources and Services Administration to equip its Proton Therapy Institute (HUPTI) with modeling and simulation equipment that will be used to determine cancer treatment plans for patients.

Bill Thomas, Hampton's associate vice president, governmental affairs, said the grant will spur job creation at the institute.
