CMS issues fact sheet for ICD-10 conversion
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has issued a fact sheet detailing changes between existing ICD-9 code sets and the ICD-10 Clinical Modification/Procedure Coding System (ICD-10-CM/PCS), which must be implemented by Oct. 1, 2013.

According to CMS, many other countries have already moved to ICD-10, including: the United Kingdom (1995); France (1997); Australia (1998); Germany (2000) and Canada (2001).

CMS said the new classification system provides “significant improvements through greater detailed information and the ability to expand in order to capture additional advancements in clinical medicine.”

The fact sheet can be accessed here.
