Elekta nets M.D. Anderson radiosurgery install
The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston will add Elekta's Leksell Gamma Knife Perfexion to its radiation oncology department.

"The device will be used initially to treat primary brain and skull base tumors as well as single and multiple brain metastases in a single session," said Eric Chang, MD, director of M. D. Anderson's central nervous system stereotactic radiation program.

Elekta will support radiosurgery and neuro-oncology by providing refined tools that support clinical objectives, yet share a foundation in terms of image and information management, according to Joseph K. Jachinowski, president and CEO of the Atlanta-based Elekta North America.
