Cancer is a topic that garners many headlines, but how does the media rate at fostering productive discussion about the disease?

A recent episode of WNYC’s “On the Media” addresses this question, and while coverage can inspire with individual success stories and drive donations supporting the study of some cancers, there is a tendency to focus on “fighting” cancer rather than thinking about prevention.
