Norwegian institute introduces cancer diagnostic iPhone app
The Institute for Medical Informatics (IMI) at Oslo University Hospital in Norway has entered the iPhone app arena with the release of iOncolex, an application aimed at helping cancer patients by providing up-to-date information on diagnosis, treatment and follow-up care.

The application currently covers lung, prostate and breast cancer, and is based on Oncolex.no, an online encyclopedia about cancer treatment used by medical professionals throughout Norway, IMI stated.

The application includes a glossary of medical terms and a range of images, videos and illustrations allowing patients to access basic facts about the disease and find out what their treatment options are, according to IMI. Continually updated, iOncolex translates complex medical language to plain English definitions.
