VisualSonics launches preclinical imaging system
VisualSonics, a wholly owned subsidiary of SonoSite, has launched Vevo LAZR photoacoustics imaging system for cancer research in the preclinical imaging market.

The technology combines optical imaging with high frequency ultrasound, allowing researchers to study cancer in its early stages of progression, detection and evaluation of tumor growth, according to Toronto-based VisualSonics.

Researchers will be able to observe tumor biology, measure hypoxia, evaluate changes in blood flow and quantify data with software technologies in vivo, added the company.

The Vevo LAZR photoacoustics system will debut at the American Association of Cancer Research on April 3 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.
