Agfa wins RIS project in Australia
Agfa Healthcare has inked a $7.15 million agreement with Queensland Health (QH) for the supply and implementation of a statewide Radiology Information System (RIS) spanning over 30 Queensland Health hospitals.

The project, called QRIS, will implement Agfa's RIS modules, including patient registration as well as the new MediWeb results distribution system. The go-live date for the project is set for second quarter of FY05 at the Townsville Hospital and Ingham Hospital in far North Queensland.

The biggest challenge for the QRIS Project will be interfacing with Queensland Health's Master Patient Index system, named "Client Directory" functionality which is central to a number of key patient and clinician benefits, Agfa said.

Over the past four years, Agfa has worked with Queensland. Six tertiary hospitals in Queensland have installed Agfa's IMPAX PACS. That project was called QPACS.
