Atirix to offer speech technologies with Provox acquisition
Atirix Medical Systems, a Minneapolis-based medical software provider, has purchased Provox, a voice recognition software provider that will be operated as a division of Atirix.

Provox, founded in Roanoke, Va., provides speech recognition systems for more than 160 imaging centers, healthcare institutions, clinics and group practices in the United States, according to Atirix.

Provox uses front-end speech recognition, according to Steve Backes, CEO of Atirix. “Provox products use patented SmartMacro technologies, a rules engine and dedicated medical dictionaries for excellent recognition speed and quality. The system can be customized for each clinical professional's needs,” he added.

The Provox technologies also include Exchange Broker to connect Provox products with more than 80 medical information systems, according to Atirix.
