Axolotl to support Indiana HIE with EMR, e-prescribing
Indiana health information exchange (HIE) HealthLINC, through the support of the Bloomington Hospital Foundation and Rep. Baron Hill, D-Ind., has been awarded federal funds to implement Axolotl's e-prescribing technology to link physician practices and pharmacies in the Bloomington, Ind., area.

The HIE did not disclose the amount of federal funding it received.

HealthLINC will offer Southern Indiana physician practices Axolotl's Elysium EMR. The product, a Web-based application, allows physicians to use a secure web browser to connect via Elysium to HealthLINC, which connects its medical trading partners including pharmacies, hospitals and labs.

The San Jose, Calif.-based Axolotl said that its Elysium EMR provides e-prescribing functionality as part of the clinical messaging and EMR system.

"I am pleased that we were able to work together to get this funding," Hill said.  "The e-prescribing funds will make it easier for doctors to have the information and tools they need to deliver patients the highest quality care possible."
