CaroMont taps athenahealth for practice management
CaroMont Health, a regional, independent, not-for-profit health care system, has selected athenahealth to provide cloud-based services to approximately 200 of its medical providers.

athenahealth’s three cloud-based services will provide CaroMont, based in Gastonia, N.C., with a unified platform to help streamline practice management and patient communications, stated athenahealth, of Watertown, Mass. CaroMont Health will use athenaCollector, athenahealth’s cloud-based medical billing and practice management service, which is integrated with athenahealth’s athenaClinicals EHR service.

The health system also will harness the athenaCommunicator patient cycle management service to manage patient interactions triggered by practice staff or by automated routines within athenaNet, athenahealth’s cloud-based platform, the company said.

athenaCommunicator will enable expanded accessibility for patients after business hours and on weekends, and can streamline patient payments, re-capture staff and physician time, reduce no-shows and eliminate paper-based mailing campaigns, athenahealth stated.

CaroMont Health encompasses the 435-bed Gaston Memorial Hospital; Courtland Terrace, a 96-bed skilled nursing facility; Gaston Hospice, including the 12-bed Robin Johnson House inpatient facility; and CaroMont Medical Group, a physician network in five counties and two states with approximately 200 employed physicians.
