Greencastle Consulting, a project management company, will manage the deployment of an EHR system for Columbia University Medical Center’s physician group, the faculty practice organization of the College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City.

The Malvern, Pa.-based Greencastle said it will manage the EHR rollout, ensure physician adoption and guide the process of system integration for the 1,200 physicians. The providers will use the TouchWorks EHR software from Allscripts in Chicago.

The institution is transitioning from paper-based records to EHRs.

After a preparation phase, the physician group will test systems at four sites during 2008, according to Greencastle. The firm also said that in early 2009, the test sites will go live, followed by a two-year, department-by-department implementation period.
