Contracts: Canon, Compuware, GE, Medsphere, NovaRad, Sage, Varian
Canon USA said that Riverside Medical Clinic of Riverside, Calif., has installed two Canon CXDI-40EG general DR systems and four Canon CXDI-50G portable DR systems. The Canon DR systems have been integrated into Riverside Medical Clinic’s Shimadzu Rad and RF systems. This increases the number of Canon DR sensors used by Riverside Medical Clinic to 12.  Riverside Medical Clinic, with four facilities in Southern California, is a fully-accredited, multi-specialty group that serves a community of more than 226,000 people.  Riverside Medical Clinic purchased the Canon DR systems through Preferred Diagnostic Equipment Service, a member of the dealer network for Virtual Imaging, an authorized Canon distributor.


Compuware Corporation has implemented a digital, filmless imaging system for Oakwood Healthcare in Southeast Michigan. Compuware professional services provided project management and production support throughout the implementation of PACS, across Oakwood's network of hospitals and selected ambulatory sites in Southeast Michigan. Oakwood physicians now have immediate access to patient diagnostic images from any network-connected PC, allowing collaboration of patient care anytime and anywhere. Radiology turnaround time has improved by 50 percent, enabling physicians to obtain patient results more quickly and to make more efficient treatment decisions.


Premier PET Imaging of Jacksonville, Fla., has installed GE Healthcare’s Discovery ST PET/CT, at its freestanding outpatient facility.


Medsphere Systems Corporation today announced the successful deployment of its OpenVista electronic health record (EHR) platform at William R. Sharpe Jr. Hospital, the first of seven state-operated hospitals in West Virginia that will be equipped with the system under a contract signed last year. More than 280 physicians, nurses, pharmacists, dietitians and other staff at Sharpe Hospital, a 150-bed acute care psychiatric facility in the city of Weston, are now using OpenVista to record and retrieve patient information electronically.


NovaRad Corporation announced its expansion in the Carolinas with four new NovaPACS contracts. The newest Carolina facilities selecting NovaPACS include:
  • The Johnson Neurological Clinic in Highpoint, N.C., that specializes in medical and surgical diseases of the nervous system;
  • 55-bed Cannon Memorial Hospital in Pickens, S.C.;
  • Internal Medicine Associates of Greenville, a multi-specialty medical practice in Greenville, S.C.; and
  • Southeastern Spine Institute in Mount Pleasant, S.C., dedicated exclusively to spine care.


Sage Software said that Physicians’ Clinic of Iowa, a multi-specialty practice based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, has selected Intergy by Sage as its electronic health records and practice management system. PCI is a 50-provider, multi-specialty practice servicing 15 locations in Eastern Iowa. The move was made by the facility to facilitate a shift to a paperless environment. 


A top public cancer center in China has introduced image-guided radiotherapy treatments for cancer patients using a Clinac linear accelerator and On-Board Imager from Varian Medical Systems. The new device enables clinicians at Shandong Cancer Hospital in East China to use advanced image-guided radiation therapy techniques that improve precision and potentially increase cure rates.
