FDA clears GE extremity MRI
GE Healthcare has received 510(k) approval for its specialty Optima MR430s scanner, an MR system that targets extremities while patients recline in an adjacent chair.

The new 1.5T system is a musculoskeletal MR designed for imaging the arms, legs and feet at gradients of 70mT/m strength and 300T/m/s slew rate, GE said. The scanner occupies approximately 222 square feet and allows patients to insert extremities while their body remains unscanned, potentially contributing to decreased movement and image noise, according to Waukesha, Wis.-based GE.
