Fuji wins first major selection under DIN-PACS II
Fujifilm Medical Systems USA has been selected by the Pacific Air Force Command (PACAF) to deploy its Synapse PACS at its bases in Okinawa, Japan, Korea, Guam and Alaska.

According to Fuji, it is the company's first major selection under DIN-PACS II contract. In September, Fujifilm announced that the U.S. Dept. of Defense selected its Synapse PACS for the DIN-PACS II contract. The contract is the basis for which the DOD and other federal agencies, including the Veterans Administration, will acquire PACS for their own facilities.

Fuji's Synapse PACS was selected for its wide area coverage capabilities, Fuji said. Additionally, Fuji's CommonView permits multi-site/multi facility integration of worklists and historical comparisons, which is key to supporting the Air Force's variable radiologist reading models.

The PACAF configuration will also include a dozen Fuji computed radiography (FCR) readers and numerous DryPix dry laser imagers.

The installation is currently slated for the first quarter of FY05, with completion targeted for December 2005.
