Geisinger Health System has deployed technology from Precyse that combines a computer-assisted coding application with natural language comprehension (NLC) to assist clinical documentation and coding accuracy.

Geisinger is using precyseCode, a computer-assisted and NLC-driven workflow tool, to bridge the EHR, dictation, transcription, coding and clinical documentation improvement (CDI) processes by capturing, editing, coding and directing physician dictation into Geisinger's EHR software platform, said the Wayne, Pa.-based company.
This combination provides a single platform to optimize coding processes and support healthcare organizations as they navigate compliance challenges, clinical documentation improvement initiatives and migration to ICD-10, according to Precyse.

Clinical information is electronically tagged to be easily searched, mined and analyzed by healthcare team members responsible for driving hospital care and outcomes, the company added.
