HealthAlliance goes wireless with Soarian
HealthAlliance Hospital in Leominster, Mass., said that it is taking its Soarian hospital information system (HIS) from Siemens Medical Solutions of Malvern, Pa., wireless via devices supported by InnerWireless Wireless Utility product.

The Richardson, Texas-based InnerWireless said it has deployed its Wireless Utility service, a broadband antenna system that supports wireless devices including handheld computers, cell phones and pagers, at HealthAlliance.

HealthAlliance has streamlined communications by allowing clinicians and staff to wirelessly access the Soarian HIS from anywhere in the facility. The hospital said the mobility improves the clinicians' workflow and facilitates decision-making at the patient's bedside.

According to Siemens, due to its web-native architecture, Soarian can run on any device that supports its browser requirements, complementing the nomadic nature of clinicians.
