Kenyan hospital’s CT scanner sabotaged by ‘political operatives’

A CT scanner at the Meru Referral and Teaching Hospital in Kenya has been destroyed in what local officials are calling an act of political sabotage.

Staff members are accused of damaging the imaging equipment in an effort to portray Governor Peter Munya’s administration as falling short on the issue of healthcare.

"There are political operatives who are using staffers (at Meru Hospital) to sabotage service delivery. Now we will have to spend money to repair the damaged equipment," Munya said. "We are going to deal with the people who destroyed the CT Scan … by doing it they hindered service delivery to persons in need.”
