GE Healthcare said Monday that HealthSpring, one of the country’s largest managed care organizations primarily focusing on the Medicare-eligible population, has selected GE’s Centricity Practice electronic medical record (EMR) solution for its new health center initiative. This initiative is being undertaken to encourage collaboration among physicians to establish community-based health centers to better serve the unique needs of HealthSpring Medicare members. HealthSpring expects to implement the solution in its first health center this fall. There are more than 4,000 primary care physicians in the HealthSpring network
Toshiba America Medical Systems Inc. on Monday announced two installs of its Aquilion 32-slice CT systems at the Regional Medical Center at Memphis (The MED), Tenn. The new systems were installed in the center's Elvis Presley Memorial Trauma Center -- the nation's third-largest Level 1 trauma center -- and will be used in evaluating the center's most seriously injured patients, Toshiba said.
Guardian Technologies announced that PremierScan Imaging, located in the heart of Silicon Valley, Calif., will install and go live with Guardian's FlowPoint 6.1 system, under a fee-for-service model which provides a cost-effective structure for financing Guardian's web-based technology, PremierScan has recently updated and modernized its entire facility with the latest in CT and MRI imaging systems and information technologies. The FlowPoint radiology information management system will streamline the workflow process to eliminate unnecessary costs and improve patient care.

MEDHOST’s partnership with Iatric Systems will allow Silver Cross to fully integrate its MEDITECH Hospital Information System (HIS) with MEDHOST’s EDIS. Silver Cross will utilize MEDHOST to increase patient safety, reduce individual wait times and improve charge capture in the hospital’s new ED.
