GE Healthcare said Monday that HealthSpring, one of the country’s largest managed care organizations primarily focusing on the Medicare-eligible population, has selected GE’s Centricity Practice electronic medical record (EMR) solution for its new health center initiative. This initiative is being undertaken to encourage collaboration among physicians to establish community-based health centers to better serve the unique needs of HealthSpring Medicare members.  HealthSpring expects to implement the solution in its first health center this fall. There are more than 4,000 primary care physicians in the HealthSpring network


Toshiba America Medical Systems Inc. on Monday announced two installs of its Aquilion 32-slice CT systems at the Regional Medical Center at Memphis (The MED), Tenn. The new systems were installed in the center's Elvis Presley Memorial Trauma Center -- the nation's third-largest Level 1 trauma center -- and will be used in evaluating the center's most seriously injured patients, Toshiba said.


Guardian Technologies announced that PremierScan Imaging, located in the heart of Silicon Valley, Calif., will install and go live with Guardian's FlowPoint 6.1 system, under a fee-for-service model which provides a cost-effective structure for financing Guardian's web-based technology, PremierScan has recently updated and modernized its entire facility with the latest in CT and MRI imaging systems and information technologies. The FlowPoint radiology information management system will streamline the workflow process to eliminate unnecessary costs and improve patient care.


Healthcare systems provider medq inc. has been selected by Galichia Heart Hospital, Wichita, Kansas, to provide its Q/ris 3000 Workflow Management System.


Nine healthcare facilities in the western U.S. have selected NovaRad’s NovaPACS.

Newly signed hospitals include: 109-bed Havasu Regional Medical Center, Lake Havasu, Ariz.; 26-bed Bear Lake Memorial Hospital, Montpelier, Idaho; 243-bed Memorial Medical Center, Las Cruces, N.M.;12-bed Pioneer Memorial Hospital, Heppner, Ore.; and 28-bed Snoqualmie Valley Hospital, Snoqualmie, Wash.
    
Newly signed health centers include: Navajo Health Systems, Montezuma Creek, Utah; Navajo Health Systems, Blanding, Utah; StatClinix Urgent Care, Show Low, Ariz.; and Emergent Care Center, Newbury Park, Calif.


GE Healthcare announced today that Satellite Med, a fully licensed medical clinic in Cookeville, Tenn., will digitize its practice by implementing GE’s Centricity Physician Electronic Medical Record (EMR), Practice Management and Laboratory systems.


ONI Medical Systems Inc. said Monday that it has sold its 100th MSK Extreme high-field, 1.0T extremity MRI system. The unit was purchased by St. Mary’s Hospital of Leonardtown, MD.   


Silver Cross Hospital, of Joliet, Ill., announced plans to upgrade its emergency department (ED) to MEDHOST’s full-suite Emergency Department Information System (EDIS).  MEDHOST’s partnership with Iatric Systems will allow Silver Cross to fully integrate its MEDITECH Hospital Information System (HIS) with MEDHOST’s EDIS.  Silver Cross will utilize MEDHOST to increase patient safety, reduce individual wait times and improve charge capture in the hospital’s new ED.
