The Shriners Hospitals for Children system plans to implement McKesson’s Horizon Medical Imaging system across its 22-hospital system, which handles 250,000 diagnostic procedures each year.

“We’re geographically dispersed across three countries and six time zones, and PACS is helping enhance our ability to turn 22 independent hospitals into an integrated healthcare system,” according to Eugene D’Amore, corporate chief information officer for Shriners. “Through better defined work processes and workflow and the replacement of x-ray film with digital images, our physicians will spend less time pushing paper and more time at the child’s bedside for more efficient and effective patient care.”
