Meditech delivers IT to Christus Health
Medical Information Technology Inc. (Meditech) will provide Dallas-based Christus Health with its Healthcare Information System (HCIS).

HCIS will be installed across eight Christus regions, totaling 25 acute care sites in Texas and Louisiana, as well as two long-term care facilities, including one in Louisiana and one in Utah. Christus previously had six of the eight regions operating a software system provided by another vendor as well as two regions using Meditech's system.

Meditech's clinical system provides IT to streamline care providers' workloads and incorporates clinical decision support tools to ensure patient safety. Meditech's Enterprise Medical Record (EMR) will collect patient information from throughout the Christus organization and make it available to authorized providers across the Christus regions and facilities, said Meditech.

Meditech's Corporate Management software was also a key factor in the selection process. "Because we are such a large delivery system, it's important that our software solution allows us to centralize the standardization of master files, software distribution, security management and operations management," said George Conklin, senior VP/CIO. "As a result of this standardization, the reporting and decision-making features that are included will be extremely valuable to us."
