Electronic medical transcription, health information, and document management products and services firm MedQuist of Mt. Laurel, N.J., announced that it has signed an agreement for remote medical records coding with supply chain management services group VHA Texas. The private cooperative serves 19 healthcare organizations and their affiliates in Texas.

Under terms of the agreement, VHA Texas members can augment their coding staff by utilizing MedQuist's remote coding resources, delivered via MedQuist's CodeRunner workflow system, or support their own employed coders remotely.

CodeRunner services provide coding support for both inpatient and outpatient settings, including ambulatory surgery, emergency department, ancillary and clinic services, according to MedQuist.
