Minnesota hospital to deploy MEDHOST ED software
Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar, Minn., has selected MEDHOST’s software for its emergency department (ED), as part of its hospital-wide efforts to switch to electronic documentation.

Rice Memorial Hospital will install MEDHOST’s latest release, version 4.1, which integrates the Sullivan Group’s patented patient-risk and safety module, as well as First DataBank’s OrderView Med Knowledge Base, according to the Addison, Texas-based company.

The version includes decision support functionality, point-of-care risk alerts and CPOE-ready drug content that allow physicians to order medications. As part of the hospital’s efforts to shift away from paper documentation, clinicians at Rice Memorial will use MEDHOST to electronically enter and access patient information in real-time, anywhere in the ED, the company said.

Rice employs approximately 900 people and has 56 departments. There are more than 190 active and affiliate members on the Rice Memorial medical staff, representing 32 medical specialties.
