Misys wins $1.2M contract for laboratory technology
Misys Healthcare Systems will be implementing its Misys Laboratory information management system at the University of South Alabama (USA) Health System.

The Mobile, Ala.-based healthcare provider inked a $1.2 million contract to purchase Misys Laboratory and Blood Bank and Microbiology Modules, CoPathPlus from Misys anatomic pathology system, and expanded outreach functions.

USA Health System will implement the systems this spring at its three hospitals:  USA Children's & Women's Hospital, USA Knollwood Hospital and USA Medical Center.

USA Health System said it plans to supplement its diagnostic testing volume and revenue by launching an outpatient business, serving as the testing hub for associated physician practices.  For example, USA Medical Center's annual volume of clinical lab tests is 200,000 and is expected to increase up to 4 percent over the next year. And, USA Children's & Women's Hospital expects to increase its lab testing as well.
