Nevada hospital goes wireless with InnerWireless
The University Medical Center of Southern Nevada (UMC) is deploying InnerWireless’ broadband Horizon solution as the platform to deliver its 802.11 (WLAN) services, as well as future wireless clinical applications.

UMC chose InnerWireless because its Converged Wireless solution Horizon provides cost of ownership and flexibility to add wireless services without redesigning or upgrading the system, according to the Richardson, Texas-based company.

InnerWireless said that UMC’s initial wireless deployment will include the delivery of 802.11 a/b/g, utilizing InnerWireless’ WLAN Traffic Management solution for mobile EMR applications utilizing clinical carts, laptops and tablet PCS.  Plans also include adding additional services, such as wireless medical telemetry, pagers and two-way radios.

UMC’s campus covers nearly one million square feet throughout eight buildings, including one that’s currently under construction.
