New Jersey imaging center to install Agfa's RIS with IMPAX PACS
Hackensack Radiology Group (HRG), located in Hackensack, N.J., has selected Agfa's RIS/PACS product for its imaging centers. The integrated system will be used for embedded document management, mammography tracking and practice analysis workflow. The RIS will be integrated with HRG's existing Agfa IMPAX PACS, Agfa said.

Agfa's RIS/PACS provides bi-directional integration allowing radiologists to utilize a single login and single worklist to access synchronized patient clinical information from the RIS and image data from IMPAX. The desktop integration was developed using native integration standards built into the RIS, allowing direct communication with the PACS.

HRG will assisted in evaluating Agfa's RIS/PACS for Imaging Centers into the US in workflow areas such as insurance pre-certification, technologist worklist, mammography tracking and film tracking. Agfa's RIS is already installed at 700 sites worldwide.

The HRG implementation process will include a detailed on-site workflow analysis to identify potentials for increased efficiencies. A data migration from the center's existing RIS system will convert existing patient demographics, insurance carriers, referring physicians and patient reports into the RIS/PACS solution. Additionally, the RIS will interface to an existing eMed portal via HL7 and to several radiology modalities via DICOM Modality Worklist (MWL) and Modality Performed Procedure Step (MPPS), Agfa said.
