Oregon hospital buys IMRIS neurosurgical imaging system
Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland, Ore., has purchased IMRIS’ neurosurgical imaging system, IMRISneuro.

The Winnipeg, Manitoba-based IMRIS said the Portland hospital will be the first medical center on the West Coast of the United States, and one of only 17 in the world, to house IMRISneuro; a fully integrated operating room that combines a movable MRI with the IMRIS surgical information management system, IMRISmatrix.

The intra-operative suite technology allows surgeons to safely image patients in the operating room during brain surgery, IMRIS said.

The company said that currently, the technology is not available during surgery without moving the patient to a different location. Delivery and clinical use of the system is scheduled for early 2009.

Providence St. Vincent Medical Center is part of a not-for-profit network of hospitals that employs 4,240 people, 1,786 of which are medical staff members, and houses 523 licensed beds.
