Philips Speech Recognition Systems of Vienna, Austria announced its SpeechMagic speech recognition technology has been successfully deployed at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead (CHW), New South Wales, Australia. The technology helped the radiology and nuclear medicine departments boost their efficiency, shortening the reporting backlog from two weeks to same-day reporting, according to Philips.

“Now all reports are finalized at the end of the same day on which they were created. This provides obvious benefits for the children in our care,” said K.C. Fan, chief radiographer at CHW.

The firm said other CHW departments have begun investigating how they could also benefit from implementation of speech recognition technology.
