ProCure selects IBA for third proton therapy center
Ion Beam Applications (IBA) will supply a proton therapy system at the ProCure Treatment Centers’ Proton Therapy Center at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Mich.

The final contract is still subject to financial close and customary approvals.

The proton therapy system will include a combination of gantry, inclined beam and fixed beam rooms — with options for patient positioning and the IBA Universal Nozzle technology, including the pencil beam scanning1. The relationship will also include a long-term service and maintenance agreement, according to IBA.

The company said that the center is expected to treat its first patient in 2010.

The Bloomington, Ind.-based ProCure had already chosen IBA to build two proton therapy centers. The first is under construction in Oklahoma City and is expected to treat its first patient in 2009, and the second system will be installed in Warrenville, Ill.
