Computer-aided detection (CAD) technology firm R2 Technology Inc. will supply its CAD products to healthcare provider Kaiser Permanente under a new two-year, dual source agreement.
The pact - which expires Dec. 31, 2005 - includes R2's ImageChecker CAD system with the OmniCAD platform to assist with early breast cancer detection. Kaiser Permanente facilities are expected to purchase the ImageChecker CAD system with a variety of display configurations to meet the specific needs of radiology department or breast imaging centers.
R2 estimates that it has shipped more than 1,200 ImageChecker systems globally.
The not-for-profit Kaiser Permanente organization serves 8.1 million members in nine states and the District of Columbia.
