Report spurs congressional investigation into Texas brain research program

A report from the Austin American-Statesman seems to have caught the eye of Congress, as a U.S. House committee has announced an investigation into a brain research effort at the Department of Veterans Affairs Center of Excellence in Waco, according to the newspaper.

Among the revelations in the paper’s investigation was that the VA spent $3.6 million on a mobile MRI scanner in 2008, but didn’t have a clear plan for its use and was unable to recruit enough brain imaging experts.
