Siemens Healthcare
Siemens Healthcare (Booth 922) is presenting new IT products and software versions at this year’s RSNA.

Siemens is demonstrating a works-in progress research portal for clinical research and hypothesis validation, a solution for patient identification for clinical trials, and an automated form completion tool for radiology practices.

The research portal system connects to multiple information systems, extracts data, supports querying of cohorts, implements guidelines, and allows for data mining and algorithm development, including third-party application integration.

The portal allows researchers to manage and store research data, including images, genomics, proteomics, and clinical data as well as combine patient data from multiple disparate sources including PACS, hospital information systems, lab systems, institution created databases, and in-house document archives.

In addition, it allows for the design and execution of ad-hoc queries and drill-down results; permits the extraction of data for reporting of clinical trials and is 21 CFR Part 11 compliant; and allows the viewing of  unified clinical and research data.

Also new this year, Siemens is demonstrating a works-in-progress solution, focusing on patient identification for clinical trials. The system is based on the Reliable Extraction and Meaningful Inference from Nonstructured Data (REMIND) platform, which has been developed to extract, integrate and provide reasoning over structured and unstructured patient data, medical knowledge and other information from multiple data sources.

Capabilities for the solution include searches in unstructured textual documentation such as history and physicals, radiology reports, surgical reports, discharge summaries, clinical notes, and dictated reports.

The company also is demonstrating a works-in-progress version of the REMIND platform tailored for radiology reports. In conjunction with syngo Workflow, the tool provides automatic form completion and extracts specific elements from text reports to help automate departmental workflow.

With syngo Portal Transcriptionist, transcriptionists can achieve greater efficiency and accuracy when transcribing and correcting reports, Siemens says. This product is not available in the United States. syngo Portal Radiologist enables radiologists to access new and previous imaging studies, previous reports as well as scanned documents all in one application window.

Siemens is showcasing syngo Suite Essential, an IT solution for diagnostic imaging centers in the United States, consisting of preconfigured software, hardware and services, in a modular solution where users can choose exactly the options they require. There is no need for dedicated on-site RIS/PACS administrator due to 24x7 hardware and software support.

New software versions being showcased this year include V70 of syngo Imaging XS that combines features for reading, planning exams and reporting with easy installation, usage and expansion. The version also includes 3D visualization applications.

Version V35 of syngo Imaging comes with enhanced support functionality for the transition from Magic to the new syngo Imaging PACS, Prior Handling/Multi-Patient Handling as well as support of syngo MammoReport and syngo Expert-I.
