Siemens partners with OSI for multi-vendor radiation oncology service
Siemens Medical Solutions has signed a two-year contract with Oncology Services International (OSI) of Ramsey, N.J., to provide service, installation and upgrade support to Siemens oncology customers in the United States.

Because of its partnership with OSI, Siemens said it will now be able to offer full-service contracts in multi-vendor radiation therapy departments. OSI also sells refurbished linear accelerators, and will now have the capability to upgrade their refurbished units to reflect the latest radiation therapy treatment technologies available from Siemens.

Among the upgrades to be made available with this agreement are: 3D multileaf collimators (MLC) which provide an automated, electronic replacement for previously custom-designed and custom-cut beam blocks; Simtec delivery systems that ensure a safe and verifiable means to deliver conventional, 3D conformal and intensity modulated treatments by utilizing rapid, sequential delivery techniques; and Lantis oncology information management system to add the basis of an electronic medical record designed to enhance productivity, help manage protocols and assist with the development of a paperless department.
