Spectrum Health, Medicity launch HIE platform in West Michigan
Non-for-profit health system Spectrum Health and Medicity have deployed a platform in Michigan that enables secure health information exchange (HIE) between hospitals and physicians for clinical decision-making, care coordination and patient safety.

The platform jointly deployed by Spectrum and the Salt Lake City-based Medicity is being offered to physicians throughout West Michigan. The solution integrates clinical information with an EMR at a physician's office. In addition, if an office is still using paper charts, Spectrum supplies a bridge solution so they can start interacting electronically.

The provider and company said that more than 75 physician offices across eight counties in Michigan now receive data electronically from Spectrum Health and an additional 70 offices are in the process of being connected.

Using the eSHare Results solution, based on the Medicity Novo Grid solution, Spectrum said it is able to send real-time laboratory, radiology and transcribed results directly to the physician's EMR or to the office's electronic "dropbox."
