Swiss university to install Zecotek photo detectors
Zecotek Photonics has received an order for its micro-pixel avalanche photo diode (MAPD) solid-state photo detectors from the University of Geneva in Switzerland.

The MAPD photo detectors have been selected as an alternative to photo multiplier tubes in the development of new calorimeters for high energy physics, Zecotek said.

Zecotek's photo detectors provide a platform for new-generation medical imaging applications relying on y-ray detection, such as PET scanning, according to the Vancouver, British Columbia-based company. Other applications include confocal microscopy and flow cytometry, Zecotek said.
